How to Clean an Electric Stove?

Cleaning an electric stove’s heating element is easy as long as you’re aware of the proper methods of cleaning.

An electric stove can easily harbour dirt particles and food debris which then results to various problems on its heating element causing a fire hazard. This kitchen appliance has the capacity to evenly distribute heat on the surface of your cooking pan. However, the presence of dirt particles can impair its function making your electric stove greasy and dirty. Regular cleaning is essential to maintain a safe kitchen environment and to extend the life of your appliance.

The things that you will need are mild soap, white vinegar, small plastic bowl, empty bottle spray, dry towel, sponge or soft clean cloth, warm water and baking soda.

Here are the important instructions in cleaning your electric stove

• Make certain that you are familiar with the manufacturer’s instruction before starting the cleaning process. Take your time reading the label.

• Remove electrical connections to ensure safety. Wait for several minutes allowing the electric stove to cool. This prevents burn injury.

• Remove the stove burners from your appliance and pull it out from the connectors.

• Wash the burner with a soft cotton cloth and mild soap.

• Rinse it carefully with warm water and set it aside.

• If there is still debris left, get your small plastic bucket and pour in the moderate amount of water and mild liquid soap. Stir the solutions properly with bare hands.

• Place your soapy solution inside an empty bottle spray and shake.

• Spray the surface of your burner and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes.

• Use a soft sponge and scrub the soiled surface with firm motion.

• For stubborn dirt, get a plastic bowl and pour in ½ cup of white vinegar.

• Get a soft cotton cloth and moisten it with white vinegar. Remove excess vinegar and wipe it on the surface with hard food debris.

• Rinse the area with warm water. Make sure to remove any vinegar residue.

• Wipe the elements with a clean dry towel and allow them to air dry before placing it back on your electric stove.

• You can also use a mixture of ¼ cup baking soda and a few drops of warm water. Mix it properly to form a cleaning paste.

• Apply the paste on soiled areas and let it sit for few minutes. Wipe the area with a clean towel and let it dry for 30 minutes to an hour.

• Avoid soaking your electric stove elements and make sure that the electrical connections are not wet as this can permanently damage your appliance and may cause a fire hazard.
